Josephine Janezic
Josephine Janezic was born in 1936 to Slovenian parents in the tumultuous landscape of Yugoslavia. Her early childhood was marred by the abuse and oppression of fascist Italianization, exposing her to the brutal realities of war at a tender age. As a young girl, Josephine faced relentless survival pressures under Communist rule.
Determined to seek a better life, she fled to Italy, where she endured the hardships of living in refugee camps. Her resilience journey led her to Australia, where she married and began rebuilding her life.
In 1960, she immigrated to the United States, embracing new opportunities and challenges and bringing her daughter into the better world she hoped for. Today, Josephine enjoys her retirement near Milwaukee, Wisconsin, reflecting on a life marked by courage and perseverance.
